Saturday, June 1, donor parents Bill and Christine Hankee stopped by Gift of Life Family House to donate $1,000 in gas gift cards to guests on behalf of the Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund. The donation is from the Fund’s new initiative: “Courses that Care, Miles that Matter.” This program raises funds through golf events and provides families who must travel for ongoing medical care with gasoline gift cards.

“We have partnered with Giant Foods and are very pleased by their generosity in helping us provide gas cards to these families in need,” says Bill Hankee. “In 15 months we have donated over 150,000 miles of driving.” The Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund  was created in memory of Bill and Christine’s daughter, Krysta Hankee, a 22 year-old Lehigh Valley native and NYU graduate who passed away in 2007 and became an organ and tissue donor.

The Hankee family also presented the Family House with a check for $500. Since the Family House opened its doors to the community in 2011, the Hankee family has donated over $4,000 to the Adopt-a-Family program fund, which supports families who cannot pay the nightly fee to stay at the Family House. Many thanks to the Hankees for their generous contributions, and to Krysta for allowing others to live through donation.
